Traditionally chaparral has been used to kill parasites, treat skin conditions like eczema, skin rashes, bruises and as an expectorant. It has antimicrobial, antibacterial, antitumor, and anticancer properties. 
 
Medical caution: on rare occasions high doses have been shown to contribute to liver disease but recommended doses have been shown to be safe.
